FDA, XFG 변이 대응 코로나19 백신 승인…고위험군 중심 접종
미국 FDA가 2026~2027년 접종 시즌에 사용할 코로나19 백신을 승인했다. 백신 항원은 현재 유행 중인 XFG 계열 변이에 맞춰 조정됐다. 접종 대상은 65세 이상 고령층과 중증 위험이 높은 기저질환 보유자로 제한됐다. FDA는 모더나, 화이자·바이오엔테크, 노바백스·사노피가 개발한 XFG 대응 백신을 각각 승인했다. XFG는 오미크론 계열에서 파생된 재조합 변이로, FDA 자문위원회가 표적 변이로 권고한 바 있다.

대장암 벽에 막힌 mRNA 백신…바이오엔테크·제넨텍 2상 중단
바이오엔테크가 제넨텍과 공동 개발한 개인맞춤형 mRNA 암 면역치료제 오토진 세부메란(BNT122/RO7198457)의 대장암 임상 2상 'BNT122-01'을 중단한다고 밝혔다. 독립위원회가 시험을 지속해도 유효성 결과가 달라질 가능성이 낮다고 판단해 내린 결정이다. 다만 같은 후보물질을 활용한 췌장암 병용요법 임상시험은 계속 진행할 예정이다. 화이자와 코로나19 백신을 공동 개발한 바 있는 바이오엔테크는 28일(현지시간) 이 같은 결정을 로슈 계열 제넨텍과 협의해 발표했다.
